Works great but be warned
By Jennifer Lima
Purchased this transmitter in February so I've had it for about 4-5 months.
PROS: -The sounds comes in super clear and it very easy to set up.
-Didn't have problems scanning through to find a station that connected well and had little to no static.
-Super cheap!
CONS: When you pause your iPod/iPhone (lets say you're at a drive-thru and need to pause your music to make an order) for about 2-3 minutes, you get assaulted with white noise. Scares the crap out of me every time when my systems volume is up. Lol.
-Also, sometimes when I turn on the car, the transmitter doesn't automatically turn on, sometimes it does. Not a big deal, but its still a thing.
-The connecting part of the cable (the rectangular part you plug into your device) is also VERY VERY delicate. Mine has already fallen apart and one of the wires has ripped, specifically the one that charges my iPhone while it plays. Since my cord has already fallen apart, I have to be extra careful when unplugging it just in case the whole thing unravels and rips.

Overall, for the price, this item is pretty good. I might just buy another one and use electrical tape to reinforce the connector piece when it begins to unravel. Sure you can find some cheaper transmitters, but not at this sound quality. I just wish it was put together a little better.

Excellent solution for getting iPod/iPhone audio into your car
By David L. Little
This is the single best FM-transmitter device I have bought for playing iPod audio over my car's audio system. It both charges the Apple products and plays the audio. I have not investigated the quality of the stereo output; my iPod is set to broadcast in mono- for use with my blutooth headset.

Advantages over other devices/systems:
1. Reliability... It works. It has an excellent 12v adapter that is easy to use, a simple design, and seems to be sturdy.
2. Unlike some similar designs, the power stays on so long as the iPod is connected. Disconnect, and the device turns off after a few minutes delay. Plug the iPod back in, it will come back on.
3. Excellent LED display of FM frequency, easy to read at any time.
4. Very clear audio when there are no interfering FM radio stations.

Drawbacks:
1. The power cord is a little bit stiff. Particularly in cold weather, this makes it a bit annoying to route the wire conveniently out of the way.
2. The control pad is in the middle (more or less) of the wire. While this is probably essential for many users, I would prefer that it was closer to the 12v adapter plug.
3. The FM transmitter is not very powerful, so finding a "dead frequency" in some areas might be difficult. It will NOT overpower an FM station with a good signal, and will have static if there is even a weak station on that frequency. Unless I am mistaken, this is regulated at a very low power by the US government, so no other product will be any better.
4. It does not tune in to the lowest FM frequencies available. The lower end of FM is less utilized by radio stations than the middle and high end, so I would expect this device to use the full available tuning range. It doesn't. I don't recall the lowest frequency available, but it is not as low as my radio tunes.
5. There is only one frequency "preset". It would be nice if other frequencies could be remembered and selected, rather than re-tuning every time a radio station causes interference. If you get interference, you will be forced to re-tune to match whatever frequency you find available on your radio. Re-tuning is pretty simple; just hold the up or down button until the LED shows the frequency you want. Not a real good idea to do while you are driving.

Great
By MB
I've had multiple iTrip tear up on me and decided to try this cheaper option. It's been superior to the iTrip in every way. Before, it was hard to find a clear radio station and I often had to settle with the lesser evil that had the least amount of static along with the audio. I was quite pleased to find the Excelvan came through crystal clear on a lot of frequencies. Another great advantage is the radio station selector has big red numbers that is so much easier to see than the ones on the iTrip. I highly recommend this option as a cheap (and so far, flawless) way to hook up your ipod to your car stereo.
